What do you love about the town your live in?
The things I love about Oceanport are its small town feel, its character with its long history, various areas of public access to waterfronts, abundant wildlife (egrets, herons, owls, ospreys, eagles), quiet neighborhoods great for early morning runs, recreation programs for kids, great schools, dedicated public servants including police officers that grew up in town.
What do you love about your neighborhood?
Our neighborhood has always been a friendly, tight nit community. Many who live here are second generation living in the homes of their parents. Through the years we have had annual block parties, holiday get togethers, pig roasts and impromptu BBQs. It’s a community ready and willing to help if someone is in need. Don’t be surprised to see someone snow blowing your sidewalk after a winter storm. It is also just a short walk to the Oceanport Creek where you can just take in the scenery or launch your kayak.
Where do you love to shop?
The Grocery stores are just a few minutes away in any direction out of town, Home Depot and Lowes are conveniently close when you are in the middle of a project, and the Monmouth Mall is also just around the corner.
Where do you love to eat?
We love to going out for breakfast/lunch at the Kitchen Witch in nearby Monmouth Beach, getting great pizza from Luigi’s, and walking over to the Marina for some informal dining on the waterfront.
What were you drawn to when you bought the property?
We first moved to Oceanport in 1985 on the same street knowing how great the town was to raise a family since my wife grew up in the same neighborhood. This property was my wife’s mother’s home since 1960 and we moved in here in 2000.
What do you love about your home?
I am going to miss the character of the house, the layout of the downstairs with its circular flow making it nice for entertaining, the back yard backing up to the wooded area with the pool, the many years of great memories.
What else can you tell me that you think buyers would want to know?
If I was a buyer it would be interesting to know that the house used to be visited by the local school children for a historic tour. Also, the placement of the side door was designed to bring caskets in and out of the house when the time came before there were funeral parlors.
What is great about the area in your opinion?
The area is convenient to just about any type of shopping. Nothing is more than 10 minutes away. The train to NYC is only a few minutes away at the Little Silver train station. We are also close by to great restaurants in Red Bank, Asbury Park and everywhere in between. Finally, the ocean is just 10 minutes away.
